Yesterday I started to upgrade my windows 7 PC to windows 8 pro and noticed that after the upgrade the store apps didn’t work.
I have been trying to upgrade my PC for a long time now and each time I try the upgrade it fails. Yesterday I removed all the programs that isn’t compatible with windows 8 and upgraded my Kaspersky internet security to version 2013.
After the clean-up the windows 8 upgrade completed successfully, but afterwards I noticed that the windows 8 store apps doesn’t work, they simply don’t load. This problem has been frustrating and after reading a few blogs, uninstalling and re-installing drivers and various software, I finally decided to uninstall Kaspersky Internet Security.
After Kaspersky was uninstalled the store apps suddenly worked again, yay! So I re-installed Kaspersky and now everything worked.
I’m still not sure what happened to Kaspersky during the upgrade, but apparently it messed up Kaspersky or it could be that Kaspersky didn’t know what the store apps was and blocked them, until the re-install where it had a chance to rescan the system setup.
My advice would to either do a clean install or to remove security software as well as incompatible software before doing the windows 8 upgrade.
So far as I’m concerned I had an overall great experience with the upgrade. Apart from this small problem the whole upgrade experience was wonderful and without issues. I think Microsoft really out done themselves this time.
